Spring Peak 2023
Challenge duration
Description
With this event we would like to welcome spring and unplug the spring tourist season. Have fun together and on the hills.
It will be a gathering of hillwalkers at certain times in certain places. Strictly speaking, we will meet on Sunday, April 2, between noon and one o'clock in the afternoon. There are enough places to meet eventually so that you won't have a big problem getting to the location and then getting to the meeting place on time. We chose only from prominent peaks of the so called ultras* ( Ultras) taking into account accessibility, views, shelter facilities or seating, but at the same time away from the main tourist routes. In the end, we selected 34 peaks in the Czech Republic and 6 peaks in Slovakia.
We will be very happy if you take it festive. You will take the time to do it and bring something to eat for others. It is not guaranteed that you will meet someone on the peak, but if you do, it will be a pleasant encounter. And if you don't meet anyone there, you'll have a royal snack.
Definitely be sure to log the climb and take some group photos to upload with the climb. Additionally, visiting any peak on our list saved between 12:00 and 1:00 will earn you (if you have the full version) a bonus 500 points towards your score.
We'd also like to add that this is a friendly gathering of Horobrans and their friends, and it doesn't matter how anyone gets there. You can even drive up some of the hills. If you have health issues, just can't make it due to another program, or anything else, don't be afraid to take advantage of it! And for the rest of you hikers, please don't discriminate between who hiked and who rode what. It's all about meeting and getting to know each other, and for some, this may be the reason they end up coming. That's what it's all about :-).
* Almost all of the hills selected for this challenge are ultraslopes = "Czech hills with a prominence of over 100 meters and an altitude below 1000 meters." Only two peaks from the selection are not ultraclimbs and we chose them with respect to the even distribution of peaks in the map. These are Landek in Ostrava and Holemna in Brno.
