Colorful Peaks

Challenge duration

1. 1. 2025–31. 12. 2025

Description

Taking a cue from the 2024 pet challenge, we're bringing you a colourful challenge!

The aim of the challenge is to visit 20 (level 1), 50 (level 2) or 100 (level 3) unique peaks that have one of the selected colours in their name - black, white, red, green, blue, pink, yellow, brown, grey, silver and gold.

On the progress page there is a large table in which there are rows of each country and columns of color. Each cell of the table shows how many vertices of that color you already have in that country and how many are available in total. If there is a dash in a cell, that combination is not available. You only need to visit at least one, e.g. Black Mountain, to see the whole cell of black colour in the country light up green. This functionality is just for fun and to possibly create your own challenges. The main goal of the challenge is to visit a specific number of peaks per level regardless of country and color.

And by the way, all colors have their own emoji icon. Grey is nothing special but it has a heart because the grey circle doesn't exist. So is pink. We originally had a purple circle, but I heard it was confusing :-) And we ended up adding silver and gold because we got about fifty questions in the first day as to why they weren't there :-D

Rules

To complete this challenge, you must follow the general rules.

The call is still in progress and will be fully completed during January. So far, only colour peaks from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland are automatically counted. Also, the translation table is not yet available. Thank you for your understanding.

For each color we are creating a special list of vertices that can be used for the challenge. We are trying to take all other languages into account so that the challenge can also be done abroad.

The vertex must contain one of the following colours in its meaning: black, white, red, green, blue, pink, yellow, brown, grey. But since we won't be going through 200+ thousand vertices manually, we will select vertices according to clearly set rules. So those rules may not 100% include all the names that should be in the selection. Similarly, there may be some extra vertices.

Below are the basic color translations in all relevant languages. The automatic selection in each language takes inflection into account to some extent.
