Challenge duration
Description
Following the successful launch of the Horobranice Challenge at Czech viewing towers, we have finally got round to publishing a similar challenge, the aim of which is to visit castles and châteaux on hilltops.
The aim of the challenge is to explore interesting places that were once strategic strongholds and the pride of rulers – castles, palaces and ruins situated on hills. We have included only those that are located on the summit of a hill or no more than 200 metres from it. As for ruins, we have included those that have at least some remains in the form of walls. We have excluded ruins where only rubble or traces on the ground remain. We have divided all these monuments into logical groups according to the regions of the Czech Republic.
To complete the first level of the challenge, you need to visit 100 selected peaks from the list. Further levels are achieved upon visiting 200 and 300 selected peaks.
The great news for everyone is that this challenge is a lifelong one, with no time limit, and it applies retrospectively from the start of Horobraní. If you’ve already visited any peaks with monuments, they’ll automatically be marked as visited in the challenge. You can therefore gradually collect individual regions or complete the challenge however you like.
Rules
