Autumn Orienteering

Autumn Orienteering brings Hory.app together with Venku.app – the app of the Czech Orienteering Federation. Autumn is a wonderful time for wandering through colourful forests, and our challenge gives you one more reason to head out. During the challenge, which runs from 1 October to 30 November 2026, you will climb a few hills and put your sense of direction to the test.

Venku.app is a mobile app that aims to bring orienteering closer to the general public. It offers more than 40 areas across the Czech Republic where you can try orienteering. Each area has permanent controls out in the terrain and a map of the controls in the app to navigate by. So you can come whenever you like and run or walk the course. 

For the challenge we have picked 39 areas that have both a Hory.app mountain and a Venku.app orienteering course. The result is a map of 39 places, which we have drawn in an orienteering style, joining the points like an orienteering course :-). The order of the areas doesn't matter at all, though. The goal of the challenge is to visit at least 3 of the 39 areas, climb the mountain there and take a photo of the QR code of any orienteering control in that area. The map here shows all the areas and, once you zoom in far enough, all the orienteering controls of each area too. The one closest to the mountain also shows its distance. You don't need the Venku.app app to complete the challenge, but we recommend it anyway – you might just take a liking to orienteering.

We left five Venku.app areas out of the challenge because there is no mountain close to them: Hodonín, Chrast - u stadionu, Prostějov - Hloučela, Rychnov nad Kněžnou and Třinecký lesopark. You can of course still do them in the Venku.app app, but they don't count towards our challenge.

How to complete the challenge?

1) Choose an area. Each area has its own mountain on Hory.app as well as an orienteering course with permanent Venku.app controls.

2) Climb the area's mountain and save your visit in the Hory.app app.

3) Find any orienteering control in the area and take a photo of its label with the QR code. 

4) Come here to the challenge page and upload the QR code. It will be matched with the area automatically.

5) The mountain and an orienteering control are the required pair for every area. An area is marked as completed once you have a saved and synchronised visit to its Hory.app mountain and have also uploaded the QR code of any of its controls (as proof that you have been to the orienteering course).

Visited mountains turn yellow on the map and are joined by a line in the order you visited them – so everyone draws their own unique route. Areas you have fully completed (the mountain and the Venku.app control) also get a green tick.

• The challenge runs from 1 October to 30 November 2026. Only mountain visits and QR codes uploaded during this period count.
• An area counts once you have visited its mountain and also scanned the QR code of any permanent control point (orienteering control) of the Venku.app area. It doesn't matter which you do first, or whether you manage both on the same day.
• You verify an area on this page: upload a photo of the QR code of any control. One from the area is enough – you don't have to complete the whole course.
• Levels count completed areas: 3, 10, 20 and all 39.
• Keep the QR codes to yourself – please don't share or publish them.

There are prizes to be won in this challenge! After the challenge ends, we will draw 10 winners from all successful participants, who will receive a Venku.app package - a headband and two Kitl fruit syrups.
