The Salzkammergut is a picturesque region in Austria, famous primarily for salt mining. It is home to the oldest salt mine in the world, in Hallstatt, which dates back 7,000 years. This history has brought wealth to the region and earned it a place on the UNESCO list, together with Dachstein. The region boasts 70 crystal-clear lakes, idyllic towns such as Hallstatt and Bad Ischl, and plenty of opportunities for swimming, hiking, cycling and winter sports.

Of all the beautiful peaks in the Salzkammergut, I have chosen 25 hills with crosses, magnificent views and a lot of history. I believe that the fact that I have always chosen two close to each other will be an advantage for many. I have been coming here for about 15 years and my favourite place to stay is the Carossa guesthouse (Abersee near Wolgangsee), where you can have breakfast or half board, bring your dog, park for free and even use the bike storage room. Two years ago, I organised a small trip there with Horobraní, and about 10 of us went :-). Otherwise, there are countless accommodation options on Booking.
