The Seychelles are an archipelago in the Indian Ocean where granite islands covered in tropical forest rise above turquoise lagoons. The inner islands are among the few oceanic islands made of granite rather than volcanic rock or coral. The highest mountain is Morne Seychellois (905 m) on Mahé, at the heart of the national park of the same name, where trails lead up Copolia and Trois Frères with views over the capital, Victoria. Mountainous Silhouette rises to over 700 metres at Mont Dauban, Praslin draws visitors to the Vallée de Mai with its coco de mer palms, and La Digue has smaller mountains of its own. The remote Outer Islands, by contrast, are flat coral islands and atolls.
