🇲🇦 Morocco

Morocco

Morocco, in north-western Africa, offers a unique combination of desert, ocean and high mountains. The backbone of the country is formed by the mighty Atlas Mountains, divided into three ranges – the High Atlas, the Middle Atlas and the Anti-Atlas. The highest peak is Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m) in Toubkal National Park, which is also the highest mountain in the whole of North Africa and the Arab world. From the Marrakesh lowlands, the view opens up to snow-capped peaks, between which lie deep gorges, glacial valleys and traditional Berber villages with terraced fields. To the north, the Mediterranean coast is flanked by the Rif Mountains, with the peak of Tidirhin (2,456 m), whilst the Anti-Atlas in the south gradually gives way to the Sahara. Morocco is a paradise for multi-day treks, high-altitude hiking, climbing and ski mountaineering – all enhanced by the colourful Berber culture and the legendary hospitality of the local people.
