Armenia is a mountainous country with an average altitude of over 1 800 metres and a landscape full of contrasts - from volcanic plateaus to deep canyons. The dominant feature is Mount Ararat, a symbol of national identity. Trails lead past rock monasteries, mountain lakes and traditional villages where history and natural wilderness mix. Great for leisurely hikes and challenging mountain routes.
